Oncology Massage

I have recently added an oncology massage qualification to my services so that I can use massage therapy for cancer patients alongside my scar therapy work. I trained under Susan Findlay in London, Susan is a leading figure in the field of oncology massage in the UK. Having been through chemotherapy and radiotherapy for my own cancer journey in 2023, I believe in the benefits of therapeutic touch for anyone undergoing cancer treatment.

Oncology massage, is a specialised form of patient-centred therapeutic touch tailored for individuals at any stage of their cancer treatment including working around chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, ensuring the body's vulnerabilities are respected. There are numerous benefits in helping to support both the physical and emotional side effects of the disease.

Benefits of oncology massage:

- Reducing stress, anxiety, low mood and nausea

- Supporting lymph drainage and the circulatory system

- Helping support the body to rest and improve sleep

- Reducing pain and fatigue

- Increasing mental clarity and focus

- Re-establishing a positive body image

All of these key benefits contribute to boosting the immune system and promoting recovery. By focusing on the unique needs of each patient, such as adjusting pressure or avoiding sensitive areas. The therapeutic nature of oncology massage also helps combat feelings of isolation and restores a sense of normality, making it a valuable part of holistic cancer care. Oncology massage can form a valuable part of the individual's cancer treatment plan, to improve quality of life and support healing in a comprehensive and caring manner.
